"Ex-Basketball Player" Paragraph

Athletics are important to me because they help to keep me active, and they keep me out of the school drama. Althetics are a good motivation for students who don't usually keep their grades up. In order to play a sport you have to have a 2.0 or higher, so playing sports for many students is a good way to keep their grades up to a point where some students don't usually have. Sports help students to learn about teamwork and also about how to have good listening skills. By working together on a team it makes it easier for kids to work together, and by listening in to their coach they develop good listening skills. These are some of the reasons that athletics for students are important to me, I think that we should athletics in all schools and continue to have them all the time.

Why did John Updike write "Ex-Basketball Player"?

I think that John Updike wrote this poem because he wanted to show how people who have a lot of potential and dreams can end up not doing what they wanted to do. Even if you are super good at something and think you may be doing it forever for the rest of your life you may not get what you want. You should always have a back up plan just incase your first plan does not work. Working hard in school could get someone farther in life than trying to be good at a sport.

Persuading You to Read a Blog

Sophomores should comment on freshmen blogs for many reasons. Freshmen are younger and more inexperienced in their writing. By sophomores commenting on freshmen blogs it gives a good criticism of what their writing could use in order to improve. It can help to improve the writing skills of freshmen by them reading and putting into use our advice. Other sophomores shuld also comment because the more feed back they get from their peers the more advice they can get for their writing. This could be a very good advancement for the freshmen.

What It Means to be a Sophomore

To me being a sophomore means that we are at a higher level in maturity then we were our freshmen year. We work harder to achive our goals and we go stranger then we did. We are at our stage of high school where we are getting to the older point but are not yet upper classmen. I am glad to be a sophomore, but I can not wait till we get older so we can be more responsible for everything we do and have. The older we get the more responsiblity and independence we gain.
